Informal Workers on Tidung Island Protected by BP Jamsostek

This is a form of government concern in providing work protection to residents of Tidung Island

The informal sector workers (mandiri) serving under Tidung Island, South Thousand Islands have been registered as active participants of the BP Jamsostek social security program, previously known as the Workers Social Security Agency (BPJS Ketenagakerjaan).

BPJS Ketenagakerjaan President Director Agus Susanto said the card was symbolically given to 120 workers who are susceptible to work accidents such as bentor (motorized pedicab) drivers, fishermen and child caregivers.

"This is a form of government concern in providing work protection to residents of Tidung Island, hopefully it will be useful," he expressed, Sunday (7/5).

He hoped that all citizens in the Thousand Islands who work in government offices, the private sector and other informal sectors could have the BPJS Ketenagakerjaan.

"Participants only need to pay Rp 16,800 per month," he explained.

South Thousand Islands Sub-district Vice Head Hendri Sembiring, positively welcomed it.

"We'll help to socialize to residents, as this is to ensure work safety," he stated.
